Version 5.2

What is new since 5.1

5.2 turns a Windows PC into the cafe's own router with the built-in Gateway and sells guest Wi-Fi from the counter. It also adds a web filter, speed limits and client restrictions for the cafe PCs and brings comparisons, distributions and a forecast to statistics. Fixes are not listed here.

HandyCafe Gateway

9 additions
The cafe's own gateway Genesis Pro
A Windows PC becomes the router for the whole venue: address sharing, DHCP, per-device speed limits and a captive portal for guests. Server downloads and installs it after a single question.
Internet page
Day-to-day network work has its own page in the sidebar: Overview, WAN, Devices, Web Filter, Bandwidth, Port Forwarding, Firewall and Options, with live traffic charts and one Apply bar for every change.
Several lines, shared
Lines back each other up. With sharing on, each machine is kept on one line by its MAC address so game logins and bank sessions do not break. A slow or lossy line is marked degraded and avoided while a healthy one is left.
Line traffic and speed
Each line shows its current traffic, speed, latency and loss. Hourly totals are kept for 31 days.
Devices and groups
Devices are recognised by MAC, named, grouped and given a fixed address, a speed limit, a block or an always-online pass. A device or a whole group can be pinned to a line, and traffic can be routed by destination port.
Web filter
Category filtering by device group with allow and block lists. Blocked sites are stopped both at the DNS answer and at the connection itself, and every block is recorded with its reason.
Port forwarding, UPnP and DDNS
Forwarding asks for a port and a line. UPnP lets consoles report Open NAT, limited to the device groups you choose, with a live list of open ports. DDNS keeps a name on the line with DynDNS, No-IP, Cloudflare or DuckDNS.
Connection log and lookup
Every connection is recorded with device, addresses, ports and bytes. For an official request, a public IP, port and time lead back to the device that held them.
Secure access, updates and backup
The gateway serves its own interface over HTTPS with a username and password and shows its state in the tray. It updates itself after checking the signature, rolls back if the new version does not start, and its settings travel with the cloud backup. The password never leaves the machine.

Guest Wi-Fi sales

4 additions
Wi-Fi vouchers Genesis Pro
Guest Wi-Fi is sold like any other voucher, with time, data, device and speed limits, paid in cash or by card. A member can also buy one and sign in on the portal with their own account.
Vouchers as stock
Creating vouchers no longer counts as a sale. They wait as stock and switch on the moment they are sold.
Shorter codes
Codes are two to six letters followed by six digits, with the letter count set by the cafe. Codes already printed keep working.
Live devices
Connected devices appear in card, icon or list view with their name, address, package, speed, data used, time online and a live countdown.

Web filter and speed limits

2 additions
Web filter
Sites are blocked by category on the cafe PCs, with your own allow and block lists. The category list is updated every day.
Speed limits
Download and upload are limited per computer, so one large download no longer slows the whole cafe.

Client restrictions

4 additions
Restriction profiles Client
A general profile and named profiles, assigned per PC. They cover Windows and desktop limits, hidden or blocked drives and Chrome and Edge policies.
Blocked and exempt apps
A blocked program is closed as soon as it starts. Apps can be blocked or exempted straight from the running apps list, and every attempt appears under Logs, Blocked attempts.
Clean undo
Every value the client writes is recorded first and put back when a profile is removed. Restrictions pause while an admin or cashier is signed in at the station.
A client that stays up
A customer can no longer end the client from Task Manager, and a background service starts it again if it stops for any other reason.

IP access logs

2 additions
Wi-Fi devices in the log Server
Phones and other devices without a HandyCafe client now get their IP-to-MAC record too, taken from the gateway's address leases.
Signed records on the gateway
The gateway keeps its own access log for two years and signs each finished day. The IP logs page in Server shows its records next to the stations' own.

Statistics and reports

5 additions
Period comparison Server
Revenues, Sales, Sessions, Tax and the Cash report compare against the previous period or the same weeks a year earlier. Changes are shown as badges and the earlier period is drawn as a faint line.
Distributions
Session length, a weekly hour-by-hour occupancy map, basket size and revenue per station, including how many stations earned nothing.
Seven-day forecast
A forecast for the next seven days built from the average of the same weekdays.
Tax tab
Taxable base, tax and gross for the period, broken down by rate, source, payment method and business day, with CSV export.
Charts for the whole period
Report charts now cover the full selected range instead of the last hundred transactions.

Daily operations

4 additions
Live system log Server
A log docked under the Computers grid shows the cashier's shift as it happens, with filters for stations, cash and errors. Log entries now carry a severity level.
Command toolbar
The station commands sit in an always visible toolbar. A button lights up only when every selected station supports it, and the buttons can be chosen in Settings, View.
Extras paid from prepaid time
Printing, USB copies and AI chat on a prepaid guest are taken from the remaining time. Whatever the time cannot cover goes to the bill as before.
Simpler member passwords
A member password no longer needs four characters. It only has to be filled in.

Packages and installation

2 additions
Genesis and Genesis Pro
The packages are now called HandyCafe Genesis and HandyCafe Genesis Pro. Features outside your package show as off with a Pro badge instead of disappearing.
One Windows setup
A single installer asks whether this PC is the Server or a Client. Stations can be installed silently with /S /ROLE=client.

Interface

4 additions
A shorter sidebar Server
The sidebar fits the window again and its bottom entries are grouped. Internet sits just above Settings.
Network settings rearranged
Client network settings moved to a tab under Clients. The Gateway row in Settings holds the install, the connection and the password.
Tickets are now Vouchers
The word changed everywhere in the product and in all 25 languages.
Version in the status bar
The version and the cloud sync badge moved to the status bar, visible on every screen.
