Client Idle Screen

The idle screen (lock screen) is what customers see on client PCs when no session is active. It serves as both a screensaver and a branded display for your cafe.

Idle Screen Modes

Mode Description
Standard Shows the built-in HandyCafe animation.
Media Rotates through uploaded images and videos.
Gamer Shows game artwork from the catalog with a sharp poster over an animated WebGL background.
Mix Rotates between selected Standard, Media, and Gamer sources.

Each mode card uses a translucent tilted icon in its lower-right corner. The selected mode keeps the teal highlight.

New installations use Gamer as the default idle screen mode. The default showcase uses an 8-second slide duration with random transitions, random playback, random poster frames, and random poster tilt. It includes all catalog games. The tilt angle is 8 degrees. Background blur is 6 px with 15 percent darkness and a #05060c backdrop. Title, Text Backdrop, description, and details are enabled. Computer name and clock overlays are disabled by default.

Media Management

Build a slideshow by adding images and videos to the idle screen media list.

Supported formats:

  • Images. PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP
  • Videos. MP4, WebM

Per-item settings:

  • Duration. How long each item is displayed, configured in seconds.
  • Reorder. Drag items to change the playback sequence.
  • Delete. Remove individual items from the slideshow.

Transition Effects

Configure how the slideshow transitions between media items:

Setting Options
Media effect Fade, Cross Fade, Slide, Scale, Blur, Zoom, Flip, Wipe, None
Transition duration Configurable in milliseconds

Gamer mode offers Cinematic Fade, Zoom Drift, Wave, Pixel Dissolve, horizontal and vertical slides, 3D Cube Turn, 3D Card Flip, Depth Push, Carousel Turn, and Random. The background and poster move together for scene-based 3D effects. The 3D Card Flip turns both layers edge-on before opening the next scene. Carousel Turn sends the old poster completely beyond the left edge and brings the new poster in from beyond the right edge.

Playback Options

Setting Options Description
Order Sequential, Random Whether items play in the configured order or in a randomized sequence.
Object fit Cover, Contain, Fill How media is scaled to fit the screen. Cover fills the screen (may crop), Contain fits within bounds (may letterbox), Fill stretches to fill.

Display Options

Overlay elements can be shown on top of the idle screen slideshow:

Setting Description
Show clock Displays a clock in the upper-left corner. Clock color is configurable.
Show cafe/display name Displays the client PC name in the upper-right corner. Text color is configurable.
Campaign QR Displays the campaign QR code in the lower-left corner when persistent QR is enabled.
HandyCafe Genesis Displays the HandyCafe Genesis label in the lower-right corner.
Background color Sets the background color visible during transitions or behind letterboxed media.

The PC name, clock, QR code, and HandyCafe Genesis label keep their fixed positions. Their configured fade cycles continue without moving them to another location.

Mouse Cursor

The mouse cursor remains visible when the idle screen opens. It hides after 15 seconds without mouse, keyboard, wheel, pointer, or touch activity. Any of these inputs shows the cursor immediately and restarts the 15-second timer. The timer only runs while the client is showing the idle screen.
