Monitoring Board
Monitoring is a board of widgets that shows the whole cafe on one screen. Computers, consoles, Wi-Fi devices, open bills, today's takings, charts and the live log can sit side by side. Each cashier arranges the board their own way. The layout is saved for that cashier and comes back every time they sign in.
The board is an extra page. The Computers, Consoles, Wi-Fi and Bills pages keep working exactly as before. The cards on the board use the same actions as those pages. A session started from the board is the same session you would start from the Computers page.
Where to Find It
Monitoring is the first entry in the main toolbar. A cashier lands on it after signing in when they have access to it.
The board has no toolbar of its own. Its three controls sit in the title bar next to the page name:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Icon view | Switches every area that lists cards between icons and compact cards. Each area can still be switched on its own afterwards. |
| Monochrome | Tells states apart by shade and shape instead of color. In icon view the whole board turns grey. |
| Layers | Opens the board menu: layout templates, board switches and reset. |
How the Board Works
The board always fills the page. It is split into areas that are glued to each other. There are no gaps and no free-floating boxes.
- Resize. Drag the line between two areas. One area grows and its neighbour shrinks by the same amount. Double-click the line to make the two areas equal. An area never shrinks below the size its widget needs.
- Move. Hover over an area and drag the handle at the start of its header (Drag to move) onto another area. The drop target shows where the widget will go: Swap, Place left, Place right, Place above or Place below.
- One widget per area. The same widget can appear in more than one area. Each copy keeps its own filter. For example, one area can show active PCs and another idle ones.
Area settings stay hidden until the pointer is over the area. The header then shows the filter tabs, the display switch and the Area options button.
Widgets
Click Add widget in an empty area to open the widget picker. Change widget in the area menu opens the same picker. Widgets are grouped as below. A widget that is already on the board shows how many times it is used, for example 1 on board. It can still be picked again.
Operations
| Widget | Shows | Filters |
|---|---|---|
| Computers | Every PC with its session and payment. | All, Active, Idle, Offline |
| Consoles | Console sessions and power. | All, Active, Idle |
| Wi-Fi | Connected devices and time left. | All, Ending |
| Bills | Open bills, longest waiting first. | Open, Waiting |
| Ending soon | PCs and consoles within 15 minutes, Wi-Fi within 5. | None |

| KPI strip | Today's key numbers in one line. | None |
| Today's revenue | Total and split by source. | None |
| Payment Methods | How today's takings were paid. | None |
The KPI strip has no header. It is a single line of tiles: Total Sales, Occupancy, Unpaid, Expected in Drawer and Open bills. Each tile appears only when the cashier may see where its number comes from.

Working from the cards
- Computer and console cards offer the same actions as on their own pages: start, stop, payment, details and power.
- Opening a bill card opens the bill drawer over the board.
- Clicking a Wi-Fi device opens the Wi-Fi page.
- Several PCs can be selected at once. Drag a lasso over them or use Shift+click for a range. Ctrl+A (Cmd+A on macOS) selects every PC the board shows. The bulk action bar then appears at the bottom. Press Esc or click an empty spot on the board to clear the selection.
Open bills are refreshed every 20 seconds while the Bills widget or the KPI strip is on the board. Wi-Fi devices are refreshed every 15 seconds while the Wi-Fi or Ending soon widget is on the board. They are also refreshed at once when the gateway reports a change.
Area Menu
Hover over an area and click Area options (the three dots in its header).
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Change widget | Opens the widget picker to replace the widget in this area. |
| Full screen / Exit full screen | Enlarges this area over the whole window. Esc also exits. |
| Filter | Lists the filters as menu items. Shown only when the area is too narrow for filter tabs. |
| Split right | Divides the area into two, side by side. |
| Split below | Divides the area into two, one above the other. |
| Leave area empty | Removes the widget but keeps the area. The area then shows Add widget. |
| Remove area | Removes the area. Its space goes to the neighbouring area. The last area on the board cannot be removed. |
Display: Icons or Compact Cards
Widgets that list computers, consoles, Wi-Fi devices, bills or balances can show them in two ways:
- Icons: small tiles. A new board starts in this view.
- Compact cards: one card per item with more detail.
Hover over an area and use its display button (Show as compact cards or Show as icons) to switch that area alone. The Icon view button in the title bar switches every area at once.
Layers Menu
Click Layers in the title bar.
Templates. The top of the menu lists layout templates, grouped by how many areas they have (1 to 9). Picking a template rebuilds the board in that shape and keeps your widgets and their filters in reading order. If the template has fewer areas than you have widgets, a Remove widgets? confirmation says how many will be dropped.
Switches. The menu stays open while you flip them:
| Switch | What it does |
|---|---|
| KPI strip | Adds or removes the KPI strip across the top of the board. |
| Keep warnings in color | In monochrome, keeps warnings such as time running out, late or unpaid in color. Available only while Monochrome is on. |
| Lock layout | Turns off dividers, move handles, splitting and removing areas. Widgets and filters can still be changed. |
| Hide Computers, Consoles, Wi-Fi Sales and Bills from the sidebar | Removes those four entries from the main toolbar for this cashier. The board already covers them. |
Reset puts the areas and widgets back to the default layout. Display, monochrome, warning color, lock and hide settings are kept.
The Default Board
A cashier who has never changed the board starts with six areas and the KPI strip on top: Computers in a wide column, Consoles and Wi-Fi stacked next to it, then Bills, Hourly occupancy and System Log stacked on the right.
Widgets the cashier is not allowed to use are left out of the default board. Those areas start empty instead of locked. Nothing is saved until the cashier changes something.
How the Layout Is Saved
The board is saved per cashier on the server, in that cashier's own preferences. It follows the cashier to whichever computer they sign in on. When another cashier signs in, their own board is loaded.
Changes are written shortly after you stop editing. Dragging a divider does not save on every pixel. If the save fails, the message The Monitoring board could not be saved. appears.
Permissions
Monitoring appears for a cashier who may open at least one of Computers, Consoles, Bills or Wi-Fi. Administrators see everything.
Each widget then checks its own source:
| Widget | Needs |
|---|---|
| Computers, Offline computers | Access to the Computers page |
| Consoles | Access to the Consoles page |
| Bills | Access to the Bills page |
| Wi-Fi | Administrator. Live Wi-Fi sessions are opened to administrators only. |
| Ending soon | Computers or Consoles access. Wi-Fi items need an administrator. |
| Open balances | Computers or Consoles access |
| KPI strip | Access to Computers, Consoles, Bills or Wi-Fi. Each tile is shown only with its own access. |
| Today's revenue, Payment Methods, Hourly occupancy, Popular games | Any report access, including today only |
| Revenue Trend | Full report access |
| Low stock | Access to the stock pages |
| System Log | The system log permission |
A widget the cashier may not use shows a lock and You do not have access to this widget. instead of its content. For a "today only" report cashier, the 7 days tab of Popular games is hidden.
Roles are set in Cashier Roles & Permissions.
Notes and Troubleshooting
A widget shows a lock. The signed-in cashier's role does not allow the page or report behind it. Choose Change widget or Leave area empty from the area menu. An administrator can also extend the role.
The Wi-Fi widget is empty. It shows Wi-Fi Sales is not set up when no gateway is configured. It shows The gateway cannot be reached when the gateway does not answer. See Wi-Fi Vouchers.
A divider will not move. The layout is locked. Failing that, both areas are already at the smallest size their widgets allow.
Computers, Consoles, Wi-Fi and Bills disappeared from the toolbar. The Hide Computers, Consoles, Wi-Fi Sales and Bills from the sidebar switch is on. Turn it off in the Layers menu.
A chart says "Not enough data yet" or "This data could not be loaded". The first appears until there are finished sessions or sales to count. The second means the report query failed. Hourly occupancy counts finished sessions only. A running session is added when it ends.
